Bite Correction
by: Dr. Spainhower

Hi George,

The SmartGuard will not correct a bite. What it does is...relieve symptoms of clenching and grinding. It also protects your teeth as well of course.

Correcting a bite is a lot more involved. The best way to do that is to wear a TMJ splint for 6-14 weeks with multiple asjustments to allow the jaw to relax in the most favorable position for the condyle in the TMJ's. Then the jaw position is recorded and casts/models of your teeth are mounted on an articulator.

Then the dentist will diagnose and correct your bite in the lab model first then duplicate that in your mouth.

Lmk if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,
Dr. Spainhower

Oh sorry I mean the last time I went to the dentist they said my upper jaw isn't even with my lower (by a bit) So I was just wondering if the smartguard would help in correcting that a little bit

Overbite?
by: Dr. Spainhower

Hello George,

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say..."Will it help my overbite"?

I'm going to assume you mean the SmartGuard. If I assume incorrectly, please reply to correct me.

The SmartGuard will not get rid of an overbite. If you wear it less than 12 hours per day, your teeth will stay put where they are. It is preferred to have an overbite of about 10-30%.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,
Dr. Spainhower
