I have a very poor bite. I never bite down in the same place, it seems. This is due to a bridge that did not fit correctly and the dentist proceeded to file on all my teeth to correct it and just kept making it worse.

Would the otc bite guards help me with my pain? Or do I need a custom made splint to correct my bite?

Thanks, Gin

Bite problem/OTC guards
by: Dr. Spainhower

Hello Gin,

The answer to your answers are the following...

OTC guards can help you with your pain when you wear the guard, but it will Not fix your bite.

You can view popular OTC guards here...

The SmartGuard is the most predictable to work.

To correct your bite, you will need to wear a full time TMJ splint 24/7 for about 3 months to diagnose the correct position of your jaw. Then the teeth can be corrected to stabilize the correct position of the condyles in the TMJ's.

You can contact me again for any questions about bite correction.
