Severe TMJ Symptoms and no Doctor in Sight :(

Hi. I am a 44 year old female experiencing progressive TMJ Symptoms for the past two years. These symptoms include a permanent purple bruise on the far right side of my face and near the ear that has recently begun to travel up and around my right eyebrow. My right cheek area is swollen, my ear is sore, my ear rings, I have a sore throat on right side and headaches. The past several days have been worse than usual and I've resorted to a cold washcloth on my face today because my cheek feels very warm.

I admit I have been avoiding the Doctor. The is so for a few reasons. I was forced to quit my job as a History Professor in 2009 because of a heart condition called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (P.O.T.S.) and para-autonomic dysfunction (Dysautonomia). I am on several heart medications and am very susceptible to very high blood pressure as a result of any stressful situation because of the electric malfunctions of my heart (due to the autonomic malfunctions inherent in P.O.T.S.) Any Novocain shots that carry neoephinephrine has an adverse affect on me and causes tachycardia and possible syncope. I've had these experiences before I knew what was wrong with me. I had a small piece of tissue removed from underneath my top lip and almost passed out. The Dentist laid me down with my feet up and I was given yogurt from the Dental Assistant's lunch. This was a traumatic experience and I know now why it happened but I'm afraid of it happening again. I don't know where to go or who to turn to. I am frightened and in a lot of pain. Is there anyway you can help me?

I live in Whitewater Wisconsin. Madison and Milwaukee are approximately an hour away from me. Chicago Illinois is an hour and a half. I am on Medicare because of my disability and I fear that will also be a barrier for me. Can you help me?

Thank you for reading this;

Dawn M. Lyle
