How does a person determine which guard is right for them?

Hi,
I have recently been to a TMJ dentist in central Illinois. He diagnosed me with TMJ disorder and wanted to make me a lower oral appliance to wear day and night, cutting down gradually on daytime use.

This entire treatment regimen will take weekly visits for about 2 months and then follow up visits. Each time I travel to the office it would be a 120 mile trip. We found out this week that my insurance denied the claim for this treatment and for me to pay for it out of pocket is almost $5000! They offered me financing thru a company they deal with at 29% interest!!!

My husband and I are just hard working people who pay all of our bills, but with 2 grandchildren we love immensely we don't have much $ left over. Every dentist I have ever gone to says I have a small mouth. I am 56 years old and have to do something as I have already fractured a tooth and had to have it removed in November.

I have always had great dental check-ups and am sick about this. I am wondering if any of your appliances would possibly help me with my teeth clenching? I cannot fracture any more teeth. I also have some neuralgia in my right jaw radiating down the side of my neck.

I notice it when I am clenching. Any information or genuine recommendation is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Marla Rumler

Try a less expensive option
by: Dr. Spainhower

Hello Marla,

You certainly should try a less expensive night guard before spending 5000.00.

Order the New Improved SmartGuard Elite. Wear it at night only and see how you improve.

The treatment recommendation your TMJ dentist recommended is appropriate, but if a less expensive guard works for you then do that.

The SmartGuard is only $24.00 and is a great guard to try first. Only wear it at night while you sleep. It is designed specifically to reduce the body's ability to clench, so it is a night guard recommended for you.

I treat my TMJ patients with the SmartGuard almost without fail to produce positive results.

If you have any other questions, email me at TMJSpainhower@Gmail.com or DrSpainhower@SmartGuard.info

Sincerely,
Dr. Spainhower
