Headache and jaw pain
by: Dr. Spainhower

Hello S Cooper,

When you have headaches and jaw pain immediately after you wake up, the most common cause is night time clenching and grinding. There are many causes of night time clenching and grinding.

Stress is the most common, but it may be a bad bite as well.

In either case, you can reduce or eliminate your morning headaches and jaw pain by wearing an appropriate night guard.

I designed the SmartGuard night guard specifically to reduce clenching and grinding at night. It reduces the ability of the jaw muscles to contract.

I believe it is the overall best OTC night guard to try first before any other guard. It is inexpensive compared to any custom made TMJ splint, and it works just as well or better.

I use the SmartGuard night guard in my Dental office for my TMJ patients as well as regular night time grinder cases.

Sincerely,

Dr. Spainhower
