MY MOTHER HAS DEMENTIA AND SHE GRITS AND GRIND HER TEETH (DAY & NIGHT) ALL THE TIME. SHE WILL NOT KEEP A MOUTH GUARD IN HER MOUTH BECAUSE SHE CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY WE ARE TRYING TO PUT IT IN HER MOUTH. IS THERE ANY OTHER TREATMENT THAT YOU CAN RECOMMEND OTHER THAN THE MOUTH GUARD? THANK YOU.

Elderly grinders
by: Dr. Spainhower

Hello Delores,

Elderly people often lack magnesium. Magnesium is considered the #1 supplement to take to help reduce grinding as it affects both the nerves and the muscles.

So, make sure that she is taking supplemental vitamins that have magnesium in them.

Good luck, and God bless you for your efforts caring for your Mother.

Sincerely,

Dr. Spainhower
