Daytime Question

Hello Dr. Spainhower!
My question is this...I have used you Smartguard for about a year and it has helped me tremendously with morning headaches and neck/jaw pain. I wake up pain free but now I am noticing that I am getting twinges of pain during the daytime. Do you know of a daytime solution for clenching? Just wondering if you have a daytime mouthpiece in the works.

Hello Laurie,

So sorry I missed your question till now.

Daytime TMJ can be caused by so many factors. Daytime pain can be brought on by anything like, stress in the jaw muscles, medications reducing your pain threshold, touching your teeth too often etc.

But, if you're looking for a mouthguard, the aqualizer is a good one to wear due to it's thinness. You really can't wear that one at night at it breaks easily and quickly.

Sincerely,
Dr. Spainhower
